Becoming A Client

You can choose to either email me or call and we can arrange a time to have a free 20 minute conversation to help you decide if my services are a good match for you. During this conversation, I'll ask you some questions about yourself and what brings you to therapy and you can ask questions about me.  At that point, we can schedule a time for a first in-person session, if that is how we would like to proceed.

Our First Session

The first meeting is an opportunity for you and me to discuss what is presenting a challenge in your life and for you to experience what it is like to work with me. We will set a therapeutic goal or two and we will book a follow-up appointment, or a series of appointments, if that is your preference.

Ongoing Psychotherapy

The duration of psychotherapy is determined through ongoing discussion and review between therapist and client. In some cases, a single session is all that is required, and in others, longer-term therapy is more effective.  Individual sessions run 50 minutes and couples’ sessions run 80 minutes.

Insurance

Registered Psychotherapists are not covered by Government health insurance (OHIP). However, Registered Psychotherapists are reimbursable (usually in part) under many work-provided and private health insurance plans, so please check to see if your provider covers psychotherapy.  Payment will be made at the end of each session and I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Cancelled Or Missed Appointments

Except in exceptional circumstances, clients will assume responsibility for the fee of an appointment that is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

Fees

$175 per 50-minute session and $225 per 80-minute session. I do have a limited number of spots reserved for clients who require a sliding scale. This would be discussed during the free telephone conversation.
